General Information
The Vegan Holiday Festival came about because we felt there was need for this type of event during the Holiday season. The "Holidays" can be a sad time for vegans with the cruelty that goes on in food production for this season. Our Vegan Holiday Festival is meant to uplift, inspire, educate and motivate people to make healthier and more compassionate food and lifestyle choices now, and throughout the rest of the year. This festival will not only highlight vegan food companies, but a wide variety of vegan-friendly goods, arts, crafts, services, products and individuals. We feel that this single event will save thousands of animal lives and will be life-changing for the attendees.
Why Portland?
Portland was voted by PETA and GoVeg.com as the #1 Vegan-Friendly City in America. VegNews Magazine chose Portland as the #2 Vegan-Friendly City in America. We have a great community with great businesses, organizations, and groups focused on changing the world for the better. Portland is truly a great place to be vegan!
The main organizer of this event (Robert Cheeke, President of Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness) successfully organized the First Annual Vegan Holiday Festival in 2006. He has also organized the 2006 and 2007 Vegan Vacations that took place in Portland, and co-organized the 2007 Portland VegFest. Portland has a lot to offer vegans and we want to embrace our city and celebrate all of us this Holiday Season.
Why host a VEGAN Holiday Festival?
There are lots of holiday festivals, green festivals and organic festivals but this is a VEGAN Holiday Festival to not only focus on healthy foods but focus on compassion to all beings. This is a great time to celebrate the vegan community of Portland and present great companies, groups, individuals and organizations that make this city so unique. Be proud to be vegan and support veganism here in Portland.
